The purpose of our trip Trifonov Pechenga Monastery, founded in 1533 by the Monk Tryphon, which survived many devastations and was revived in the 21st century, has a rich and amazing history. Thanks to Saint Tryphon, the harsh northern region of the Lapps learned the truth of the Christian faith, while Russia retained its borders and influence on the Kola Peninsula.
The revival of the monastery in our time began in
2009 with the construction of a church and buildings at the historical resting place of St. Reverend Tryphon in the area of ​​the village of Luostari.
The artist chose the Savior Mountain as the object of his painting, where the Monk Tryphon originally lived in the cave, and now there is a huge six-meter cross on its top. And the fact that the holy mountain took the image of a sleeping monk, we saw only on the way back from a stop on the highway ...
